ACA Holds Spring Executive Committee Meeting at Ft. Lewis

On behalf of Pres. Linthicum and the entire ACA Executive Committee, we thank the U.S. Army Ft. Lewis for hosting the spring Exec. Comm. meeting at their Army base in Washington State on May 20.  All of the soldiers at the Fort really rolled out the red carpet for the group, not only did they host the meeting at one of their facilities on base, but they also assisted with airport pick up and return, which was much appreciated. After their meeting, the Exec. Comm. members were also treated to a tour of the existing facility at the Fort, where they had an opportunity to view first-hand the many innovative programs in place at the base and to also hear a presentation on the Army’s plans for building their new corrections facility.  It was great to see their staff so proud of their programs, what they have accomplished and to be excited about their future plans. It has been a while since the Exec. Comm. meeting was held on the west coast, and this gave us an opportunity to not only support our west coast members, but also members of our armed services corrections family. The new Secretary for the State of Washington, Steve Sinclair; Assistant Secretary of Prisons, Rob Herzog; and Assistant Secretary Health Services, Kevin Bovenkamp also joined us.  We thank everyone at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord for all that they did to make us feel so welcome and for making the spring Exec. Comm. meeting held there meaningful and very memorable!
