The Certification Process
Thank you for your interest in ACA’s Corrections Certification Program (CCP).
The CCP is a self-study program that ends with a 200 question, four-hour,
proctored, paper exam.
You have several options to take the exam:
1. Register to take your exam at one of the scheduled sites. Click here for a
list if the scheduled exams. This list is updated on our website monthly.
2. You can take the exam at a Dantes Testing Site. Go to the
Dantes site to find a location near you.
3. ACA staff will find a certified professional in your geographical area to
proctor the exam for you.
Please allow 3-4 months for options 2 and 3.
The Exam
• 75% is needed to pass the exam
• 90% earns you an honors designation
Once you pass your certification exam, you will receive a congratulatory letter,
a certification certificate, a pin, a sample press release, and a supervisor
notification form.
Recertification
Your certification credential is valid for a three-year period. Because the
purpose of the certification program is to increase your knowledge and skill
level in your career, you will need to acquire a number of continuing education
credits within your three-year certification period to become re-certified.
The CE credits* you will need to acquire within the three-year time frame are
listed below. They vary according to your certification level.
