ACA Technology Development Committee

Charges of the Technology Development Committee as directed by Gwendolyn Chunn, President of the ACA. She has directed our committee to determine the following needs of the correctional industry:

  • The Committee shall determine the five (5) most critical technological needs in the adult corrections, juvenile correctional, probation, parole/aftercare/re-entry, and in the community corrections. The Committee shall work closely with the Technology Applications Committee in identifying the technology needs of each of these areas.
  • The Committee shall identify strategies for addressing these technological needs.
  • The Committee shall cooperate with the Correctional Intelligence Task Force as requested.
  • The Committee shall continue to participate in the exemplary practices project by providing information to the Exemplary Practices Coordination Council regarding necessary revisions and updates in the published exemplary practices monograph.
  • The Committee shall submit workshop topics to the Congress Program Planning Committee and the ACA staff for the Congress and Winter Congress. The Committee shall also encourage correctional agencies and professionals to identify future correctional technology needs in the ACA publications.
  • The Committee shall work with other ACA committees (Adult Corrections, Adult Detention, Probation, Parole, Juvenile Corrections, Technology Applications, etc.), related associations (i.e. ASCA, NIC, NIJ, BJA, OJJDP, etc.), and chapters and affiliate organizations to insure that the technology requirements of corrections are identified and developed.
  • The Committee may develop agenda items other than the aforementioned, with the approval of the President of the Board of Governors.
