Health Care Committee (AD HOC)
2005-2006 Charges Assigned by the President:
- The Committee shall meet to discuss issues regarding correctional health care, especially as the issues relate to health care accreditation standards. The Committee shall review and update health care policies of the ACA, as needed.
- The Committee shall identify ethical issues that shall challenge the delivery of correctional health care to adult and juvenile offenders and share this information with the ACA Ethics Committee.
- The Committee shall discuss and identify the specific health care needs of adult and juvenile female offenders and make recommendations to the Standards Committee for the development of standards that address the specific needs of females in correctional settings.
- The Committee shall monitor the correctional health care directors mentoring program.
- The Committee shall continue to participate in the exemplary practices project by providing information to the Exemplary Practices Coordination Council regarding necessary revisions and updates in the published exemplary practices monograph.
- The Committee shall submit workshop topics to the Congress Program Planning Committee and the ACA staff for the Congress and Winter Conferences and shall also encourage correctional agencies and professionals to submit articles for publication in ACA journals, CD's and books.
- The Committee shall work with other ACA committees (Adult Corrections, Adult Detention, Female Offender Task Force, Juvenile Corrections, Ethics, etc.), related associations (i.e., ASCA, ACHA, AJA, CJCA, etc.), and chapters and affiliate organizations on issues that shall impact correctional health care.
- The Committee may develop agenda items other than the aforementioned, with the approval of the President or the Board of Governors.
The Committee shall submit minutes of each meeting to the Association's Executive Office. (2005 - 2006)
