We have begun planning
the 142nd Congress of Correction, which is scheduled
for July 20-25 in Denver. ACA staff are making
preparations to ensure a productive and successful
conference that will include many educational
workshops, networking opportunities and an exhibit
hall featuring the latest services and innovations
in the field. The Planning Guide was mailed
with the February/March issue of Corrections
Today magazine.
Congratulations to
Burl Cain (Louisiana) and Gary Maynard (Maryland)
for being recommended to receive the 2012 E.R. Cass Correctional Achievement Award. This
prestigious award will be presented to these
deserving individuals at the 142nd Congress of
Correction during the E.R. Cass Banquet.
The ACA Nominating
Committee will meet at the ACA office in the
upcoming months to select a double slate of
candidates for the open positions in the 2012
general election. If you know someone who would be a
good candidate for the election, please nominate
him or her. The nomination form is located on our website
and was printed in the February/March issue of
Corrections Today magazine. If you have any
questions, please contact Jennifer Bechtel at
jenniferb@aca.org,
or (800) 222-5646, ext. 0102.
The Coalition for
Correctional Health Authorities will be conducting
its New Health Authority Training April 11-13
in Alexandria, Va. We will be welcoming new
health authorities from the following jurisdictions:
Connecticut, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maine,
Michigan, Rhode Island and West Virginia. We look
forward to a productive training session.
Many of
our chapter and affiliates are holding their annual
conferences in the spring, and we wish them much
success with them.
