Back to Recertification Ccp
All active certifications obtained under the previous program are still honored, as long as the certified professional is in compliance with recertification requirements and timelines.
For credentials obtained under the previous certification program, there is a grandfathering of those credentials for active and current certified professionals.
The conversion highlights for the non-clinical certifications are below:
❖ All individuals with an active ACA Certified Correctional Officer designation will be converted to the CCP credential at time of their recertification, unless the individual requests to be converted sooner via a conversion request submitted to the Office of Professional Development.
❖ All individuals with an active ACA Certified Correctional Supervisor or Manager designation will be converted to the CCP-Administration credential at time of their recertification, unless the individual requests to be converted sooner via a conversion request submitted to the Office of Professional Development.
❖ All individuals with an active ACA Certified Correctional Executive designation will be converted to the CCP-Executive credential at time of their recertification, unless the individual requests to be converted sooner via a conversion request submitted to the Office of Professional Development.
❖ At time of recertification of previous credentials, individuals will be converted to the new recertification process and requirement of completing annual professional development activity.
❖ At time of recertification, unless the individual requests to be converted sooner via a conversion request submitted to the Office of Professional Development, currently credentialed individuals will receive the new lapel pin and certificate in accordance with their new credential.
The American Correctional Association’s Certified Correctional Professional (CCP) credentialing program enables qualified corrections professionals to achieve active certification status for one year, with the expiration date occurring 365 calendar days from the date of initial certification. Certified Correctional Professionals must recertify on an annual basis, prior to the expiration of their active credential and no later than the 45-day grace period post the expiration of the active credential. Failure to meet the recertification requirements will result in a dismissal of the CCP credential designation for the corrections professional, with reinstatement of the credential only being permitted by an appeal request initiated by the professional OR the professional must reapply for certification and examination.
Eligibility for recredentialing requires:
❖ Completion of CCP Recertification Application and payment
❖ Proof of current and active employment within the corrections profession AND proof of good employment standing with the agency/employer
❖ Documented completion of 15 hours of continuing education beyond any training requirements required by the professional’s agency/employer. Documentation must be provided via official learning transcripts, CEU certificate, or letter from the awarding CEU provider. And, upon request, clear learning objectives will be disclosed for CEU presented for credit towards recertification.
Continuing education credits may be earned incrementally during the course of the pre-recredentialing year and must be accumulated via multiple approved learning formats, with no more than 50% being accumulated from a single learning format. Approved learning formats include: eligible agency/employer in-house training; industry-related training and education courses outside of the professional’s agency/employer; accredited online courses; industry conferences and workshops that include educational sessions; educational webinars; online or in person seminars; publishing an article in a professional journal or completing a college-level demonstrating a high level of expertise; serving as a speaker or panelist for an industry-related professional association or conference, demonstrating a high level of expertise.
